Genevieve, a sleep-deprived mom, was exhausted from taking care of her twins. The Halloween season was approaching, with the neighborhood buzzing about the elaborate decorations. However, Genevieve could hardly summon the energy to decorate her own house, let alone keep up with the suburban festivities. And then there was Brad, the smug neighbor who took Halloween to the extreme.
Brad turned his house into a haunted carnival every year, complete with gravestones, skeletons, and gigantic jack-o’-lanterns. His display enamored the entire block, but Genevieve was too busy with her twins to care about Brad’s excessive decoration.
One typical October morning, everything started to unravel. Genevieve walked out of her house to find her car covered in eggs. The mess stretched all the way to Brad’s front porch, leaving no doubt that he was responsible. Furious but too exhausted to argue, Genevieve confronted Brad.
To her surprise, Brad admitted that he had egged her car because it was blocking the view of his decorations. He arrogantly claimed to be the Halloween King and demanded cooperation from Genevieve. Outraged, Genevieve snapped back at him, but her exhaustion quickly snuffed out her rage.
As Genevieve washed the eggs off her car, she realized that Brad was more than just an overzealous neighbor. He was a bully. Determined to teach him a lesson, she came up with a genius plan. Knowing that Brad’s weakness was his pride, she suggested to him that he should upgrade his haunted house with high-tech gadgets.
Brad took the bait, and Genevieve watched with satisfaction as his carefully crafted Halloween display fell apart on the big night. The fog machine malfunctioned, spraying water instead of mist. The ghost projector flickered, creating a comical blob instead of a ghostly apparition. And to top it all off, one of Brad’s inflatables deflated in front of the amused crowd.
The next morning, Brad showed up at Genevieve’s door, looking deflated himself. He apologized for egging her car and admitted that he had overreacted. Genevieve accepted his apology, knowing that he had learned his lesson. As Brad left, Genevieve couldn’t help but remark on the irony of the situation.
