The 97-year-old star opened up about what happened after she was involved in a car accident in Malibu, California.
Dick Van Dyke has broken his silence after crashing his car in the rain on March 15.
The 97-year-old Hollywood star crashed his car at speed after losing control and crashing into a fence in an exclusive California neighbourhood.
The actor reported to police that he skidded in the rain and was unable to avoid a 2018 Lexus LS 500 crash when they arrived at the scene and found him behind the wheel.
Van Dyke told reporters on March 25 that he was “really hurt” after he “slammed my face into the steering wheel” in his first public appearance since the crash.
The actor, who suffered a busted lip and needed two stitches, was in good spirits as he spoke about the horrific incident.
When asked how her recovery is going, she told photographers: “I’m fine. It hurts”. He continued: “I turned the wheel because the airbag didn’t deploy.”
“So I got two stitches, but other than that it was kind of funny,” he said, pointing to his mouth.
The actor also joked about his age. “I’m 97 years old,” he said, adding: “All my friends are dead.”
When reporters asked him how he was doing, he thanked his wife, Arlene Silver, 51, for taking care of him. He replied, “I’m fine,” and added, “I’d probably be dead if it weren’t for my wife.”
According to an American news site, the actor’s wife took his car keys because she was worried about his safety.
According to sources, the actor may no longer be visible to neighbors passing by. According to the anonymous tipster, “Dick is at a point where he needs to get off the road for his own safety and the safety of others.”
The official continued, “Arin is worried that if she doesn’t get the key now, it will be too late.”
It’s been 10 years since Dick Van Dyke was rescued from his burning Jaguar on a Los Angeles freeway in 2013.
A man named Jason Pennington told TMZ he was driving when he saw a burning car on the side of the road.
Jason pulled 87-year-old veteran actor Van Dyke from the burning car after seeing the elderly man trying to escape when it stopped.
It’s only been a month since the masked singer appeared on the American version of Dick Van Dyke’s TV talent show.
Judge Nicole Scherzinger, 44, was left in tears when she realized who was hiding behind the mask in what she called “the biggest reveal ever”.
Frank Sinatra’s “When You’re Smile” was recorded by Van Dyke, who also gave a special “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” performance for the crowd. We wish him a speedy recovery!
