Breastfeeding is a wonderful natural act. For many mothers, it is very important to raise their children big and strong and give them the necessary nutrients. It’s also a great way to bond with your child.
Regardless of how you feel about breastfeeding in public, the reality is that mothers can breastfeed in public anytime, anywhere. Some people don’t mind this, but others are upset.
When Melanie Dudley, mother of a newborn, was urged to cover by a stranger at a restaurant, she did something that earned her praise from thousands of mothers (and others) around the world. Ta.
Melanie Dudley was sitting in an 86-degree restaurant with her 3-month-old son and a few friends in 2018 when her baby decided it was lunch time.
Melanie, a new mom from Texas, carefully removed her nipples so her son could start breastfeeding without exposing himself. However, the man at the next table didn’t like her behavior.
A stranger approaches Melanie and asks her to hide. Melanie agreed to defend herself, but not in the way the man expected.
“I was on vacation with my entire family in Cabo San Lucas when a man urged me to cover myself. “I’m usually quiet, but we were seated in the back of the restaurant,” Melanie explained to Yahoo.
“I was wearing a cover, but it was so hot.” “It was 95 degrees outside, and my baby was sweating,” the Texan said.
“I told her, ‘You know what? ‘I’m going on vacation. Therefore I’m taking this off.’”
Melanie didn’t see the issue, but the man in question did. Melanie answered by pulling the cover over her head, which caused the entire diner to laugh.
“I simply put it over my head.” I’m not sure why. It wasn’t like a raunchy brawl or anything. That was just my reaction. “I couldn’t think of anything to say, so I just covered my head,” the woman added.
Another woman photographed Melanie and posted it on Facebook. The ensuing post soon gained traction and has now been shared over 225,000 times.
Melanie’s photograph drew a lot of attention, and many people congratulated her for having the courage to post it. Of course, she wasn’t the first woman to be chastised for breastfeeding in public.
However, thanks to Melanie’s innovative response, the image went viral and the debate heated up until mainstream media covered the matter.
Even though this event happened in his 2018, people continue to comment on this post and it continues to evoke strong emotions. This shows that the breastfeeding debate is still alive and well.
Although breastfeeding is a woman’s right and breast milk is considered “liquid gold” for good reason, women continue to be criticized for doing what nature intended.
