Is he a man outside of time?
Facebook investigators have discovered a strange man in a black-and-white photo from the 1940s who appears to be using a device that was too high-tech for the time.
According to The Sun, the mystery began in 1943 in Reykjavik, Iceland, where strange figures were seen around American soldiers stationed there during World War II.
But he’s not wearing a military uniform. Instead, he stood out by wearing a light-colored trench coat and holding his hand near his ear as if talking on a cell phone.
It didn’t take long for social media users to claim this man must be a time traveler. The photo was first posted in 2016 by user Kristian Hofmann in the Icelandic Facebook group Gamlar ljósmyndir,
with the caption: What attracts attention in this beautiful photo is that above the window, the photo In the center corner of the photo, a man is seen bent down and talking on a cell phone,” the publication reported.
“I have no words. I don’t think he’s just talking on the phone…He’s alone and stunned, with a different hairstyle, scarf, and acting like we do today.
“,” Hoffman said. Another user, Karolina Petrusdottir, compared herself to Doctor Who, the Mirror reported.
The photo went beyond a niche antique photo club and became a conspiracy theory movie on YouTube called “10 Real Time Travel Stories That Can’t be Explained.”
Surprisingly, no one involved expected this man to be an Axis spy. Rather, more rational members of the Facebook community said he was simply checking to see if the clock was running.
Some claimed that he was simply smoking a pipe and scratching his ears during filming.
