Former model Turia Pitt, 27, was caught in a bushfire while running an ultramarathon in Australia six years ago.

He suffered severe burns on 64% of his body. Doctors said there was a chance of survival.

Michael Hoskin, Turia’s boyfriend at the time of the accident, quit his police job to look after her. He was always there for her and protected her. Michael knew he wasn’t going anywhere. Since the accident, Turia has undergone 200 operations.

He lost seven fingers and had to recover for more than two years. In 2020, he gave an interview in which he spoke of the horror of a 100km race in remote Western Australia that was engulfed in flames.

“I remember seeing my skin sticking to the rocks and the spinifex,” Pitt said, adding that he felt “an explosion of fear.”

In 2015, Michael gave Turia a diamond ring that he bought in rehab four years earlier. According to Michael, he proposed to her while on vacation in the Maldives.

“I bought Turia a diamond ring four years ago when she was in intensive care,” Michael told the Daily Mail. Turia had to wear a mask for two years to heal from his injuries. Slowly but surely he began to recover. Michael tells his bride every day, “You’re beautiful.”

The two got married in 2016.

Turia would like to thank Michael for all his support during these seven difficult years, during which he spent a lot of time in the hospital.

“I never wanted to sleep next to my partner. Now I think how lucky I am to be able to sleep next to this beauty. He’s a good guy and I’m very happy to meet him,” Turia Pitt told the Daily Mail. “I wake up next to Michael every day. It’s a wonderful day.”

After the tragedy, the couple struggled to rebuild their lives and move on.

“He doesn’t want people to feel sorry for him. He just wants to get on with his life,” Michael told News.com.au. “She’s beautiful, very cool.”

But despite all these things, they felt that something was missing in their lives. They wanted to be a family.

In 2017, Turia announced on Instagram that she was pregnant with the couple’s first child. Word spread quickly in Australia, and people have been following the couple’s journey for years.

The mom-to-be explained that she kept in shape throughout her pregnancy, although she hasn’t been able to run a marathon in a while. Soon after, their baby boy arrived!

Michael and Turia welcomed their son Hkawai on December 7, 2017. On February 9, 2020, the couple announced the birth of their second child, another son named Rahiti Hoskin. They are now married and raising their children together.
