Keanu Reeves is not one to reveal his relationships publicly. It means there are too many people with opinions. Reeves revealed in 2021 that he is still married to Winona Ryder. They have been married for 29 years. Keanu speaks his mind.
“I think we’re married now.”
These weddings are different from the traditional weddings with white dresses, bouquets of flowers and all the friends and family present to quench your social thirst for a while. They had a wedding and everything, but instead of going to church with everyone they knew, they were on set with the whole film crew.
Obviously, this didn’t happen in “real life”, but rather happened during the filming of the 1992 movie Dracula. “We shot the whole wedding with real brides,” explains Reeves. When asked if he was still married, Reeves replied, “They say Winona is married. According to Coppola, we are. So, in God’s eyes, I think we’re married.”
Francis Ford Coppola directed Dracula. He wanted the scene to be as realistic as possible, so he used a real church as a backdrop.
The director said that honesty is important. He said: “It would be very nice to have a real wedding in that religion (Greek Orthodox Church).”
He also admitted that the scenes where the characters get married may be more realistic than originally thought. “It’s very realistic and I think it’s very beautiful because we had a ceremony and the bride did it,” Coppola said.
“When we were all done, we realized that Keanu and Winona were really married because of that scene and that wedding.”
“I think we’re actually married.”
While the couple was promoting their 2018 film “Destiny Wedding,” Entertainment Weekly asked about their relationship. Ryder believes that God believes they are married because of their vows.
Even if it’s just a scene from a movie. “I think we’re married.” she explained. “No, I swear, I think we’re married. Francis used a real Romanian priest in this scene. I shot the master and he did everything. I think that’s why we got married.”
The two have been known to be in love for some time. However, they neither acted on these feelings nor acknowledged each other’s feelings. Keanu and Winona have been friends for a long time.
Dracula was neither their first nor their last film. After appearing in ‘The Fateful Wedding’, the two went on to appear together in films such as ‘Dark Scanner’ and ‘The Private Life of Pippa’.
But they have a professional and personal relationship. Although the two have never met, they are in love. Sandra Bullock is another good friend of Reeve’s. He expressed his opinion in the December issue of Esquire magazine. He believed they would make a good couple and survive where others could not. But they didn’t give themselves a chance. “Keanu seems to be friends with every woman he’s ever been in a relationship with,” Block said.
