    Royal couple’s tribute

    2 Mins Read

The Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, have expressed their condolences over the passing of their friend Peter Morris, the owner of Little Dragon Pizza, who sadly lost his battle with cancer at the age of 47 in May.

William and Kate had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Morris back in April 2023 during a visit to Dowlais Rugby Club in Merthyr Tydfil. They bought 12 pizzas from his van and even had a chance to chat with him.

In a letter addressed to Mr. Morris’s wife, Tracey, Prince William shared his deep sympathy, saying, “We can only begin to imagine the immense void he will leave in your life. My heart goes out to you and your family during this incredibly difficult time.”

Mr. Morris, from Beaufort in Ebbw Vale, started his pizza business in a retrofitted Volkswagen van, serving delicious pizzas on the picturesque Welsh moors since 2016. Unfortunately, just four months after the royal couple’s visit, he received the devastating news that his cancer had returned, this time spreading to his adrenal gland and liver.

Following Peter Morris’s passing, Kensington Palace delivered a heartfelt letter to his family, which was also read at his funeral. The message, expressing William and Kate’s fondness for Pete, said, “Catherine and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Pete and serving pizzas to everyone from the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team. We have seen firsthand his immense dedication and value to the community.”

The couple hoped that Pete’s loved ones would find comfort in knowing how many lives he had touched. They ended the letter by assuring the grieving family that they were in their thoughts during this challenging time.

Little Dragon Pizza, the business that Peter Morris built, shared the news of his passing on Instagram, paying tribute to their beloved “boss and friend.” They expressed their commitment to carrying on his hard work, which has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the community.
