Security cameras show prison guards not helping R. Kelly when was assaulted in prison

    3 Mins Read

Child abusers and pedophiles are not popular in prisons and jails in the United States.

Singer R. Kelly is famous around the world, and her colleagues at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago watch her as she is accused of being a sex offender who molested vulnerable teenage girls who wanted to become singers and stars.

In August, Kelly, 53, was assaulted in prison and suffered “serious physical and psychological injuries”, his high-priced lawyers said. It was also claimed that prison guards had “encouraged” the attack. He pointed to the many rape victims the singer interviewed a year ago as they await trial on dozens of state and federal sex-related charges in New York, Illinois, Minnesota and other states, along with the release of the documentary film “Survivor R. Kelly”. .

He trafficked young women and kept them on his property to act as sex slaves. Gang member Jeremiah Shane Farmer was found guilty of the attack on August 26, 2020. Farmer may have ambushed Kelly while she slept in the bottom bunk. Palmer escaped prison guards, entered Kelly’s cell and struck the accused child abuser in the skull. A corrections officer used pepper spray on Farmer, saving Kelly’s life. But Kelly’s legal team now claims the security guard did not intervene quickly enough to help Kelly before Farmer attacked him.

His lawyer said the security guard allowed Mr Palmer to “walk a long distance” from the security guard and that “no one at MCC lifted a finger to stop Mr Palmer attacking Mr Kelly until Mr. Palmer was in the deep end.” . difficulty. victory.”

The lawyers added: “There are outstanding issues as to whether MCC staff encouraged and approved the beating of Mr Kelly. “That alone is worth a sonic hearing.”

The plea comes as a convenient response to Kelly being denied bail last month despite being at risk of contracting COVID-19.

Bail was denied because Kelly is a flight risk and a threat to society, especially young and vulnerable black girls. Palmer, 39, was a member of the Latin Kings gang and was sentenced to life in prison for double murder and racketeering in 1999. Palmer pleaded guilty in 2019 to the deaths of Harvey Segars, 67, and of Marion Lowry, 74 years. I did it. Palmer, meanwhile, said he was “compelled” to attack Kelly last summer “to get worldwide attention and news coverage to highlight government corruption.”

Kelly’s lawyer says Farmer should be questioned about “the role played by MCC staff in that attack.”

A court document last month said: “It appears that MCC staff simply followed Mr Palmer and allowed him to be assaulted, only intervening after Mr Kelly had suffered serious injuries.

Thomas Farinella, Kelly’s lead attorney, also said: Kelly was the victim of an unprovoked attack while at MCC because of who she was. Clearly, the prison can’t afford to keep him in custody
