One day, a 92-year-old man went to his neighborhood Bank of America to withdraw money, but he was turned away due to his identity.
The man was so furious about what had happened that bank managers had to call the police to order him to leave the establishment and never come back.
The policeman’s gesture upon his arrival was not exactly what the bank staff had anticipated.
The police officer appears to have taken a different approach to handling the matter, and both his choice and his demeanor won him praise from many.
Officer Robert Josett has been informed that he needs to go to the bank because a 92-year-old man is stirring up trouble there.
Also, it was mentioned that the man is stirring up trouble since he is unable to take money out of his personal account due to issues with his identification.
Apparently, the ID had expired, and staff at the bank claimed they were unable to identify him in order to approve the withdrawal.
The man did not comprehend this, nor why the employee told him to leave the bank instead of offering to assist him in this circumstance. The man was frustrated because of this.
Officer Josett arrived at the bank rather quickly, and upon learning the specifics of the situation, he made an unusual decision.
Rather than just ejecting the elderly man from the bank, the officer chose to assist him.
In order to help the man get the necessary withdrawal, Officer Josett offered to take him to the DMV for a new ID and then back to the bank.
As promised, this is precisely what transpired. Following that, a picture of Josett and the elderly man was shared on Facebook by the Montebello Police Department, garnering thousands of views.
Following this, a number of Facebook comments that were appreciative of the officer’s assistance-seeking behavior toward an elderly man surfaced.
His actions won him praise and amazement from others because, in today’s world, it is rare for someone to stop and assist someone else when they are in need; instead, people would rather choose to ignore such problems because they feel obligated to assist more than others.
As technology has advanced to such an extent that it is difficult for the elderly to understand exactly what they need to do, there should be an increasing number of people choosing to be kind to those around them and choosing to help when they can, especially when they see an elderly person in need of assistance.
Positive, touching news is welcome on social media because it gives us hope that good people are still out there and willing to lend a helping hand in the face of the abundance of negative news.
Everybody has elderly parents or grandparents in their lives who might not have the patience to work through issues.
For instance, young people, but especially the elderly, may find it troublesome to have an expired ID.
Some people, especially those who find themselves in the same predicament as this man who desperately needed money but was unable to access it, are unaware of the precise process and what they must do in order to obtain a new ID as soon as possible.
We always find ourselves in a situation where we need the patience and kindness of others around us, so we should learn to be more patient and kind to those people.
