Have you ever been startled by an unexpected visitor in your home? It’s a common fear that many people can relate to. But imagine the shock of finding a massive 12-foot python slithering up your toilet out of nowhere. This nightmare became a reality for a family in Samut Prakan, Thailand, and the incident has since gone viral.

The terrifying ordeal began when Suwi Paramas, a housewife, went to wash her hands after using the restroom. To her horror, a gigantic yellow-green reptile suddenly appeared in the bathroom. Overwhelmed with fear, Suwi fled the room and her screams echoed throughout the house, alerting her husband and brother-in-law to the danger.

In panic, the family called for emergency assistance, and a wildlife crew was dispatched to handle the situation. The 12-foot python had become trapped in the toilet’s plumbing, and it was no small feat to free the snake. Video footage shows the wildlife crew using specialized tools to try and coax the python out, but their initial attempts were unsuccessful.

“I was so scared. I couldn’t even watch while they were catching the snake. It could have killed me,” Suwi shared in an interview after the incident. The family ultimately made the decision to break the porcelain basin, with the approval of the wildlife crew. However, even with the toilet damaged, the snake was still entangled in the u-bend, a curved part of the plumbing system.

Due to its enormous stomach, pulling the python straight out of the hole proved challenging. To ensure the safety of both the snake and the plumbing, the wildlife team had to carefully dismantle the pipework and rescue the snake from the other side. It was a daunting task, but thanks to their professionalism, no accidents occurred during the process.

Fortunately, the snake was successfully removed and was intended to be returned to its natural habitat. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of coexisting with wildlife in respectful and safe ways.

It may be surprising to learn that this is not the first time a python has been discovered in a Thai bathroom. These occurrences seem to happen more frequently during the hot season, as pythons seek cooler and moist areas. In fact, there have been other shocking incidents involving snakes in restrooms in Southeast Asia, including a man being bitten by an 8-foot-long python and another man being bitten on the penis by a 10-foot python in 2016.

While snakes are fascinating creatures, it’s best for them to remain in their natural environments. Let’s hope that encounters like these become less common, allowing both humans and snakes to coexist without any unexpected surprises.
