In a statement, Ryan Seacrest paid tribute to Sajak, who began hosting syndicated editions of the show in 1983, and said he would succeed Pat Sajak as host of the popular game show Wheel of Fortune. “I am truly humbled to follow in the footsteps of the great Pat Sajak.

Ryan Seacrest even defended his Wheel of Fortune credentials after looking at his resume.
“One of my first gigs was hosting a little game show called ‘Merv Griffin for the Click’ 25 years ago. Most people probably don’t know about this show. It was truly the best moment for me. Thanks to Sony for giving us this opportunity.
“I look forward to working with the legendary Vanna White as we continue the Ferris Wheel legacy.” White is said to be in contract negotiations. He hosted shows like Gladiators 2000 and Wild Animal Games with American Idol.
Ryan Seacrest likely produced the aforementioned Click because of his association with Wheel of Fortune. Pat Sajak isn’t the only one with big shoes to fill.
